How do I delete a code in Google Authenticator?

To delete a code in Google Authenticator:

  1. Open the Google Authenticator app on your device.

  2. Swipe left on the entry you want to remove.

  3. Tap the trash can/delete icon that appears.

  4. Confirm by tapping “Remove account.”

Important to know:

  • If your codes are synced to your Google Account, deleting one from one device will also delete it from all synced devices.

  • Make sure you have an alternative way to sign in (like backup codes or another 2FA method) before deleting, since you’ll no longer receive codes for that account.

  • If you’re switching devices or stopping two-factor authentication for an account, removing the code from the app is the correct process.

How do I delete a code in Microsoft Authenticator?

Steps to Remove an Account:

  • Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device.

  • Tap on the account you would like to remove.

  • Click the cog (settings icon) in the top right corner.

  • Select Remove account.

  • Confirm the removal.

Important to know:

  • Make sure you have another multifactor authentication method set up (such as SMS, email, or a backup authenticator app) before removing an account.

  • Removing the account from the app does not disable MFA on the account itself—you may still be prompted for verification until you update your MFA settings.
