Multi-factor authentication ("MFA", sometimes also called two-factor authentication) helps keep your Traackr login secure by adding an extra level of security on top of your username and password.
If MFA is enabled for your account, each time you log in you will need to enter your password and provide a unique code. We use a QR-based system to generate the codes for you. Traackr is compatible with popular authenticator apps like Google Authenticator and Authy.
Setting up multi-factor authentication for your account
You will be required to set up MFA when you sign up for your Traackr account the very first time.
Click on the invite link to sign up for Traackr.
Follow the steps to enter your email, temporary password, and create a new password.
Download an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy.
Scan the QR code that appears on your screen.
Enter the code provided by your authenticator app.
📲 When you set up your account, you'll be given the option to provide a phone number. We recommend providing a phone number to use in case you lose access to your device with the authenticator app to avoid potentially being locked out of your account.
Logging in with multi-factor authentication
Once multi-factor authentication is enabled for you, when you log in the next time, you'll need to enter your password and then a code generated from your authenticator app on your smartphone.
Recovering your account
If you lose access to the device with your authenticator app, Traackr allows you to recover your account through SMS.
Click on the "Can't access your multi-factor authentication app?" link.
Traackr will send an SMS message to the phone number saved in your profile.
Use the code included in the SMS to login.
Follow the steps to reset your MFA settings to continue using the app.
If you have lost access to your authenticator app, but did not set up a phone number in the app, you will not be able to recover your account on your own. Please contact Traackr using on our on-site communication widget in the bottom right of the screen, or email your Traackr representative directly. Using either method, we will verify your identity, and then help you reset your authenticator.
Limits on account recovery
We are unable to send a recovery SMS to phone numbers from the following countries. If your phone number comes from one of these countries, you will need to contact your Traackr representative to help you regain access to your account:
Algeria
Azerbaijan
Bangladesh
Indonesia
Israel
Nigeria
Oman
Pakistan
Palestinian Territory
Sri Lanka
Tajikistan
Tunisia
Vietnam
Resetting your multi-factor authentication
It is also possible to reset your own MFA, if you are logged in to Traackr. This action might be necessary if you have lost your phone, or want to use a different authenticator app.
Go to My Profile page.
Select the Security tab.
Click on "Reset multi-factor authentication" to disable your existing authenticator app.
Follow the steps required to set up a new MFA.
How does MFA work if I’m a user on several accounts?
MFA is enabled at your individual user level, and not on the account(s) you’re associated with. Once you have enabled MFA and logged in to Traackr, you’ll then be able to choose which account you’d like to view.
Troubleshooting for common issues
I already have MFA set up, do I have to do anything else?
No! There is no further action to take. Your existing MFA settings will not be impacted by the changes to this experience.
When I enter my first validation code to set up the MFA integration, Traackr says that the code is not valid
You may be using a validation code from an old MFA integration with Traackr. Try scanning the QR code with a different authenticator app and using that code.
